This game literally had everything! Great goals, sloppy goals, bad weather conditions, great play, great goalkeeping, the list goes on.

www.dpfc.co.uk catches up with Goalkeeper David Devlin and get his thoughts on this current squad, the transition from Coach to Player, and what targets he has set for the season ahead

With the new season on the horizon dpfc.co.uk managed to catch up with Goalkeeper David Devlin and get his thoughts on this current squad, the transition from Coach to Player, and what targets he has set for the season ahead.

Dev, you had previously decided to hang your boots up and take on a coaching role with the club last season. That proved a successful decision as you were part of the management team that led the club to promotion in the clubs debut season. This year you’ve decided to revert back to a playing career. What was it that prompted you to take this decision?

The reason I reverted back was because I felt good and injury free in the year while coaching, and I think that was what my body needed, a very long break. I felt that I wanted to have at least one more season before my little boy takes up football.

Davyhulme Park Reach 1/4 Finals Of Memorial Cup

Davyhulme Park set a new record yesterday with their highest finish in a cup competition as they blasted their way through to the 1/4 finals of the Memorial Cup.

Unfortunately Halton Juniors sent the division 2 new boys home with a 3-0 victory but a 1/4 final finish was still an achievement for a club that is still only 15 months in existence.

Manager Mike Jones had this to say “I was delighted with the way in which we progressed to the quarter final stage with such a big victory over Manchester CC, a team that is not to be underestimated, and a strong performance.”

On the defeat the man at the helm of Davyhulme Park said “There’s no shame in losing to such a good team however the way in which we lost is a disappointment. I felt we showed them too much respect and didn’t play our own game enough. Still I take nothing away from Halton Juniors. They are a very good team with some superb footballers and I wish them all the best for the season”

So despite the tournament coming to a premature end for Davyhulme Park it was still something of a success and should set the team in good sted ahead of a tricky fixture against early league leaders Broadway Rovers

First League Fixture Announced

Davyhulme Park will host local rivals Broadway Rovers in their opening game of the season.

The fixture promises to be a fierce contest if the recent pre season friendly is anything to go by.

Broadway inflicted DPFCs first defeat of pre-season that day and showed the Division Two new comers they won’t have things all their own way.

Memorial Cup Knockout Stages Next For DPFC

DPFCs next fixture sees them take on Manchester CC in the knockout stages of the Memorial Cup. Despite an unfortunate season last year Manchester CCs qualification tells you of their improvement. Manager Mike Jones said “Make no mistake this is not a game we will be taking lightly. We got caught out against GM Hurricanes in our first group match but had time to bounce back. In knockout football that’s not the case and we will have to be at our best to beat this Manchester CC team”.

With a 10:00 kick off set make sure you get to Turn Moss and cheer on the team as they seek to progress through to quarter finals
